San Juan (KFXV) Three individuals were placed under arrest by the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office for their connection to The disappearance and death of 15 year old Kassandra Ramirez.
Cassandra went missing from her son home Wednesday night at around 9 in the evening then on Friday a passerby found her body more than 12 miles away in northern Edinburg.
Here's the latest in the investigation:
Authorities say the suspects refused to seek medical attention for Kassandra after she became ill all three suspects then allegedly got rid of her body.
27 year old Daniel Salazar was charged with criminal negligent homicide sexual assault of a child and tampering with evidence. According to Hidalgo County Sheriff, Eddie Guerra, Daniel said he befriended Kassandra on Facebook before running away from her home in San Juan on Wednesday evening.
During the investigation authorities learned Kassandra had left in an SUV with Daniel and the two other suspects, Daniel’s sister thirty-one-year-old, Irene Salazar, and the sister's boyfriend, 34 year old, Eric Zamudio.
“Irene and Eric made statements to investigators at prior to her death, Kassandra had appeared to be very ill and Daniel refused to seek emergency medical attention for her” - Sheriff Eddie Guerra
All three suspects allegedly got rid of the body and failed to report it to the police. Irene Salazar and Zamudio were charged with failure to report a felony. Salazar was also charged with tampering with evidence.
Sheriff Guerra advises parents to monitor their children’s social media activity.
