Edinburg - New details on the developing story of Principal Cristina Esparza of Edinburg. Concerned parents had informed Fox 2 News that a nude photo of her was circulating among students and the district has said nothing.
Today, FOX 2 NEWS received a press release from the Ruiz Law Firm stating Principal Esparza and her family are victims of a crime. Stating in part... "sometime ago someone obtained the private photo without her knowledge or consent" as a result saying, there is a pending criminal investigation into who unlawfully obtained and disseminated the private photo.
Her lawyer, Mauro Ruiz, also saying-- as soon as Principal Esparza knew the picture was circulating in public, she alerted the Edinburg School District Administration.
There is no confirmation from the district of an investigation. However, her lawyers say she has been suspended without basis which further victimizes her and her family. They say that the district's actions are wrongful and without merit.
We have reached out to the school district again today and they have not confirmed her suspension. The only thing they could confirm is that there is an investigation happening but could not tell us if Principal Esparza was involved.
We will continue to follow the story as it develops.
