Edinburg (KFXV) -- Nohemi "Mimi" Gonzalez better known as "Lady Botox" here in the Rio Grande Valley -- went before a judge today to start the jury selection process. A total of 12 people were selected for a jury that in the next couple of days will decide Gonzalez's fate.
One by one candidates entered this courtroom with one main purpose.
Today the defense, prosecutors and Noe Gonzalez, the judge in charge of this case, chose the people that will represent the jury in Nohmei "Mimi" Gonzalez's trial.The 48 year old woman faces 2 charges of practicing medicine without a license and a charge for aggrevated assualt.
Fox 2 News spoke to experts who explain each member of the jury must be appropriately qualified and impartial in every case.
A total of 58 people were interviewed today. Tomorrow the trial will begin; each party presenting critical evidence.
According to authorities, Gonzalez used liquid silicon to infect what is believed to be more than 30 women.
If sentenced Gonzalez could face up to 20 years in prison.
This is the second time Gonzalez faces a trial process. In 2013 she pled guilty to all charges but her pleas were thrown out when officials discovered Nohemi was not sworn in during this process.
